Advertising policy

Reviewed 1 October 2026. This policy explains how Bliro separates advertising from editorial information for readers in Indonesia and elsewhere. It applies to every paid placement, sponsorship, and partner message that appears anywhere on the Bliro website, regardless of format or duration. We publish this policy so that readers, advertisers, and regulators can understand the standards we apply before accepting any commercial relationship. It works alongside the editorial policy, which describes how independent content is produced free from commercial influence. Both documents are reviewed together to ensure they remain consistent with each other.

1. Clear labeling

Paid placements, sponsorships, and partner messages are labeled in language readers can understand. A commercial placement should not appear to be an independent health recommendation. Labels remain visible on the relevant page. Understandable language for a label means using a plain term such as sponsored or paid partnership rather than an ambiguous abbreviation that a general reader might not recognize. Visibility of a label is assessed by checking that it appears near the top of the relevant content, in a size and contrast that is easy to notice rather than hidden in small print. We review label placement periodically as part of our broader content review process to confirm labels remain prominent even after a page template changes. A placement that could reasonably be mistaken for independent editorial judgment is revised or relabeled before it is allowed to remain live. We also require that any label remain legible in both desktop and mobile layouts, since a label that is technically present but difficult to read on a small screen would not meet the understandable-language standard described above.

  • a) Plain labels: sponsored or paid partnership, not ambiguous abbreviations.
  • b) Visibility: labels placed prominently, not in reduced-size small print.
  • c) Periodic review: label placement checked after any page template change.

2. Editorial independence

Advertisers cannot purchase a favorable conclusion, remove a correction, or control independent coverage. Editors retain responsibility for headlines, context, and publication decisions. This separation is structural: the staff who negotiate advertising agreements are organizationally distinct from the editors who assign, write, and approve independent articles. An advertiser disputing an unfavorable but accurate mention in editorial coverage may raise a factual concern through the correction process described in the editorial policy, but cannot have the coverage altered simply because it reflects poorly on their product. Headline wording for any article remains an editorial decision even when the underlying topic relates to a category where the advertiser is active. We consider this independence essential to maintaining reader trust in the information presented across the site.

  • a) Structural separation: advertising staff distinct from editorial decision-makers.
  • b) Factual disputes: addressed only through the standard correction process.
  • c) Headline control: remains an editorial decision regardless of advertiser interest.

3. Restricted claims

We do not accept claims that promise guaranteed health outcomes, present a product as a cure, or create fear around ordinary wellbeing. Advertisers must support material claims and comply with applicable Indonesian requirements. A guaranteed-outcome claim, such as promising a specific result within a fixed timeframe, is rejected during the advance review of any submitted advertisement. Presenting a product as a cure for a condition is treated as a restricted medical claim requiring evidence we are not in a position to verify, and such submissions are declined. Fear-based messaging, such as suggesting an ordinary and common experience is a sign of serious danger in order to prompt a purchase, is inconsistent with the calm, informational tone described in our editorial policy. Advertisers operating in regulated categories are expected to hold any license or registration required under Indonesian law before a placement is accepted.

  • a) Guaranteed outcomes: rejected during advance advertisement review.
  • b) Cure claims: treated as unverifiable restricted medical claims and declined.
  • c) Licensing: required under applicable Indonesian law before acceptance.

4. Health categories

Health-related advertisements may require additional review of wording, evidence, licensing, and audience suitability. Bliro may reject a placement where the information could mislead readers or encourage unsafe delay of care. Additional review for a health-related submission typically includes checking the specific wording of any claim against the restricted-claims standard in Section 3, and requesting supporting documentation where a material claim is made. Audience suitability considers whether the advertised product or service is appropriate for the general readership of a men's wellness information site, rather than a narrower clinical audience. A submission encouraging a reader to delay seeking professional care in favor of a product is rejected outright, consistent with the urgent-care guidance in our disclaimer. We may request a revised version of an advertisement before approval rather than rejecting it outright where a specific adjustment would resolve the concern.

  • a) Claim review: checked against the restricted-claims standard before approval.
  • b) Supporting evidence: requested for material claims in health-related submissions.
  • c) Revision option: offered before outright rejection where feasible.

5. Personal data

Advertising does not grant an advertiser access to Bliro contact messages. Any lead form must explain its own collection and sharing practices. Bliro does not sell reader health profiles. Contact messages submitted through the Bliro contact form, described in the privacy policy, remain internal to the editorial team and are never shared with an advertiser as part of a commercial arrangement. Where an advertiser operates its own lead-generation form linked from a placement, that form is governed by the advertiser's own privacy notice, which a reader should review independently before submitting information. We do not compile or sell aggregated reader health interest profiles to advertisers under any circumstance, reflecting the sensitive nature of wellness-related browsing behavior. Any request from an advertiser for access to reader data beyond standard anonymized placement performance metrics is declined.

  • a) Contact messages: remain internal, never shared with advertisers.
  • b) Advertiser lead forms: governed by the advertiser's own separate privacy notice.
  • c) Health profiles: never compiled or sold to any advertiser.

6. Targeting

We avoid targeting based on inferred medical conditions or sensitive health interests. Broad contextual placement may relate to a page topic without identifying a reader’s health status. Contextual placement means an advertisement may appear on a page about sleep because the page itself concerns sleep, not because an individual reader has been identified as having a sleep disorder. We do not use browsing history to infer a specific diagnosis or health condition for the purpose of serving a targeted advertisement. This approach is intended to avoid the kind of sensitive-category targeting that could feel intrusive or stigmatizing to a reader researching a personal wellness topic. Where any analytics tool is used in connection with advertising measurement, it is configured consistent with the aggregated, non-identifying approach described in the cookies and privacy policies.

  • a) Contextual basis: placement tied to page topic, not inferred individual diagnosis.
  • b) No condition inference: browsing history not used to infer specific health conditions.
  • c) Analytics configuration: aggregated and non-identifying, consistent with related policies.

7. External destinations

Advertisers control their own linked pages and legal notices. Readers should review those pages before purchasing, registering, or sharing personal information. A link is not an endorsement of every external statement. Reviewing an external page before registering or purchasing might include checking its own privacy notice, return policy, or licensing information, none of which Bliro can guarantee on the advertiser's behalf. We periodically spot-check active advertiser links to confirm they remain functional and reasonably consistent with the claims approved during the review described in Sections 3 and 4, though this does not amount to a continuous monitoring commitment. If a reader reports that an external destination has changed in a way that raises a concern, we investigate and may suspend the placement pending review. A link appearing on Bliro does not imply that we have verified every statement made on the destination page.

  • a) Reader diligence: reviewing an advertiser's own privacy and purchase terms independently.
  • b) Spot checks: periodic, not continuous, monitoring of active advertiser links.
  • c) Reader reports: investigated, with suspension possible pending review.

8. Complaints

Readers can report a misleading, unlabeled, or unsafe advertisement to the editorial desk. Include the page address, date, and concern. We aim to review reports within 30 days. A written letter to the postal address in Section 10 is appropriate for a detailed complaint, while a phone call during Jakarta business hours suits a quick question about a specific placement. Including the exact page address and the approximate date the advertisement was seen helps us locate the specific placement quickly, since multiple advertisements may rotate across a page over time. Within the 30-day review window, we assess the complaint against this policy and may suspend, relabel, or remove the placement if it is found to be non-compliant. We aim to inform the reporting reader of the outcome where contact details were provided, consistent with the response approach described in our other policies.

  • a) Written complaints: sent to the postal address for detailed concerns.
  • b) Phone complaints: available during Jakarta business hours for quick reports.
  • c) Outcome: suspension, relabeling, or removal where non-compliance is confirmed.

9. Records

Placement records, labels, approvals, and complaints may be retained for 24 months for accountability. Limited billing records may be retained longer where required by law. Access is restricted to relevant staff. The 24-month retention period for placement and complaint records allows the advertising team to identify a recurring issue with a specific advertiser across multiple campaigns over time. Billing records retained longer than 24 months are kept strictly to satisfy Indonesian tax and accounting recordkeeping obligations, rather than for any marketing purpose. Access to these records is limited to the specific staff responsible for advertising operations and compliance review, consistent with the data minimization approach described in our privacy policy. After the applicable retention period expires, records are deleted unless a specific complaint or dispute remains actively under review.

  • a) 24-month retention: applies to placement, label, approval, and complaint records.
  • b) Extended billing retention: limited to Indonesian tax and accounting requirements.
  • c) Restricted access: limited to advertising operations and compliance staff.

10. Contact

Contact Jalan Cempaka Putih Raya No. 15, RT.005/RW.001, Cempaka Putih Timur, Jakarta Pusat 10510, Indonesia, or +62 21 7890 3215. The policy was reviewed on 1 October 2026. The 1 October 2026 review expanded the targeting guidance in Section 6 and the external destination handling in Section 7 to give clearer practical detail than the earlier wording provided. We plan to review this policy at least annually, consistent with the governance cadence described in our editorial policy, or sooner if applicable Indonesian advertising regulation changes materially. Any future revision will be dated on this page along with a short description of what changed, so advertisers and readers can track how our standards evolve. Questions about a specific prior version of this policy can be directed to the contact details above. Bliro operates in Indonesia under business registration number (NIB) 0220108472913 and taxpayer identification number (NPWP) 03.771.248.5-021.000, both available for verification by advertisers or regulators upon request.

  • a) 1 January 2026: initial publication of this advertising policy.
  • b) 1 October 2026: expanded targeting and external-destination guidance.
  • c) Planned cadence: at least annual review, or sooner following a regulatory change.
